For sure we want active and engaged members of the community to run for the board of the WMF and this more limited list includes many individuals who fit that description. However we also need flexibility to find folks who have the capacity and willingness to do this work. More importantly this is the communities election, and we as the communities should be the ones deciding the minimum criteria of who gets to run and who gets to vote. Unfortunately this feels like the WMF is trying to take over community authority / limit community involvement in governance.
