Vienna, 17. November 2003 - The Fink project is proud to announce the
availability of a new binary distribution, version 0.6.2.  The release
of this new binary distribution the Fink team is an important milestone
in the transition to Mac OS X 10.3 and completes the transition to
version 3.3 of the Gnu C Compiler.  Fink now supports all users running
Mac OS X 10.2 with GCC 3.3 enabled as well as all users running Mac OS X
10.3.

This binary distribution version 0.6.2 is a intended to be a bug fix
release. The 0.6.1 distribution was a major release, updating Fink's
stable packages to the gnu C compiler version 3.3.  Although built on
Mac OS X 10.2, it runs on Mac OS X 10.3.

This release features updates of fink (the package manager itself),
dpkg, and apt-get which fix the dselect problem mentioned on The Fink
Website (http://fink.sourceforge.net/news/index.php).  Another bug was
that all the files installed by the 0.6.1 distribution are owned by
UID 2011 instead of being owned by root; has been fixed as well.
The binaries were rebuilt with the correct ownership for this release.

User that have installed files from  version 0.6.1 of the binary
distribution are advised to visit the website for further instructions on=

how to fix their UID issues.

The fink package manager has been improved, it can now handle CVS and
rsync updates of Fink info files, as well as the newly introduced
