We didn’t do anything.  As it turns out, the original poster’s issue was that they were using a very old version of Fink.  This suggests a few questions.

1) Are you getting the exact same error as the OP?  
2) If not, what is the error that you are seeing?
3) What is your fink version ("fink -V")?
