Dear Derek,

thanks for your message. I've tried to install openBLAS 0.3.9 by replacing your new versions of the .info and .patch files, but I got the following failure at installation (after deleting the per-existing openBLAS 0.3.8):

sudo -u fink-bld [ENV] sh -c /tmp/fink.c7kTg

env LANG=C LC_ALL=C /opt/sw/bin/tar --no-same-owner --no-same-permissions -xf /opt/sw/src/OpenBLAS-0.3.9.tar.gz

Did I make any dummy mistakes?

Thank you again for the support.

Thanks both for the bug report and the quick troubleshooting!

I only have two comments on the solution.

    >

    > The 'make TARGET=NEHALEM’ fix needs to be applied within the Fink package description (.info) file. As noted earlier:

    > 1) Fink builds from clean sources, so any changes you make in the source tree are erased.

    1) The original fix was suggested for a lower-range Goldmont CPU; if you have very recent hardware

like a new MacBook Pro it is quite possible that setting a newer target like HASWELL or ICELAKE

will support the full capabilities of its CPU (in particular, if `sysctl hw | grep avx` shows an “avx512”

entry, ICELAKE might be the better target to pick).

    2) Fixes for the original issue and some other CPU types have been merged in the new OpenBLAS

version 0.3.9; I have posted an update for that to https://github.com/fink/fink-distributions/pull/632

and you might try the openblas.info + openblas.patch file from there to test if this now automatically

    detects your hardware.

    Cheers,

                                                                                                              Derek
