Fink and MacPorts live in their own prefixes, so there shouldn't be issues with them coexisting in general. However, they both install system-users from time to time to handle daemons or necessary rights permissions (such as messagebus or games users). If they both create a user with the same name, one package manager might not like the settings the other package manager created. Fink's users are tracked with the passwd-* packages. I don't know how MacPorts tracks their created users.
