Confirming that Xquartz 2.8 doesn't install /opt/X11/lib/X11/xinit.
Unfortunately, I don't know anything about how our xinitrc should work 
or how old and current versions of X11 use xinit and xinitrc/xinitrc.d.

Someone on IRC mentioned that /opt/X11/etc/X11/xinit might be the new 
/opt/X11/lib/X11/xinit. If that's the case, it should be a simple fix to 
change the pkg xinitrc to use the etc location over the lib location.
