Unfortunately, I don't know anything about how our xinitrc should work or how old and current versions of X11 use xinit and xinitrc/xinitrc.d. Someone on IRC mentioned that /opt/X11/etc/X11/xinit might be the new /opt/X11/lib/X11/xinit. If that's the case, it should be a simple fix to change the pkg xinitrc to use the etc location over the lib location. Hanspeter Hello Hanspeter, Many thanks for this. I have to report that latex2rtf, as well as its dependency texlive-nox-base, has now successfully compiled and so far appears to be working. However, unfortunately, I simply do not understand what has changed to allow this to happen (I should just add here that I am an end user - a structural biologist - not a programmer). I had tried >10 times to get latex2rtf to compile before posting on the mailing list, and up until now the failure of xinitrc to compile had always blocked it. I note that for the successful compilation of latex2rtf (which I tried after the round of updates from you that resolved the parallel problem with pymol-py27 discussed in my post on fink-level), the number of dependencies listed was much reduced, and no longer included xinitrc. Also, I see that xinitrc now appears as "archived" in the list of installed packages, whereas earlier (when compiling latex2rtf failed) there was no version of xinitrc either installed or archived. I believe this is may be because I tried a separate install of xinitrc alone to see if this fixed any problems; I did not save the terminal output from this, but my memory is that it failed with exactly the same error as I reported previously concerning the missing folder /opt/X11/lib/X11/xinit, but perhaps this somehow still resulted in the archived version subsequently being present? Other than that, my only thought is that one of the other updates in the most recent round somehow fixed the issue. I'm sorry not to be able to give any better information. However, there is clearly still a problem with xinitrc. The status of xinitrc shows as "archived", with no version listed as installed. When I issue a "Dist-Upgrade packages" command in fink commander, I get the terminal session output shown below, which again highlights to the missing directory /opt/X11/lib/X11/xinit. Although I apparently do not need to solve this problem for my own work, I thought I should nevertheless report the symptoms as they now appear.
