More detailed:

I think the install-info backup location has long been weird and nobody 
could tell me why when I asked years ago, but inertia and usual "other 
stuff is more important to fix" left it by the wayside. And I don't 
even have memory of ever pondering why the default infodir isn't set to 
fink's location. 

Is the ncurses clang stuff the same as in the "real" (stable/) package?
