Absolutely! And no amount of documentation will manage to completely resolve that. Which is why we should also consider to just use SVN insteaad of git. As SVN is extremely close to CVS, I think the transition barrier would be *much* lower. Thankfully, Daniel also implemented selfupdate-svn :-)

Indeed, thanks to the SVN <-> git bridge, we could even (as a middle ground) be using git in the background, but let maintainers access it via SVN. See also <https://github.com/blog/626-announcing-svn-support>
