Which is why we should also consider to just use SVN insteaad of git. As SVN is extremely close to CVS, I think the transition barrier would be *much* lower. Thankfully, Daniel also implemented selfupdate-svn :-) Indeed, thanks to the SVN <-> git bridge, we could even (as a middle ground) be using git in the background, but let maintainers access it via SVN.
