Sorry, but I think you're confusing iOS and OS X. This thread has been
about Octave, Fink and compilers on Mac OS X, where users can install
software any way they like, and "jailbreaking" doesn't even make
sense. The App Store as an exclusive method of software distribution
is only on iOS devices.
