(Sorry for the top-post).

I tried this myself, but I haven't been reproduce the issue as of yet.
So far I've tried rebuilding tar and then dpkg. I have a bootstrap
running, but it hasn't finished yet.

hi list,

i recently updated to Xcode5 (including command tools) and noticed that
the self-update task does not complete properly,
ending on a 'tar : exhausted memory' error when trying to
build dpkg_1.10.21-1238_darwin-x86_64.deb :
     Writing control file...
     Writing package script postinst...
     Writing md5sums file...
     dpkg-deb -b root-dpkg-1.10.21-1238

     dpkg-deb : construction du paquet « dpkg » dans «

».
     tar: mémoire épuisée
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
/sw/bin/dpkg-deb: le sous-processus tar -cf a retourné une erreur de
sortie d'état 2
     ### execution of dpkg-deb failed, exit code 2

déjà installés.)
     Suppression de fink-buildlock-dpkg-1.10.21-1238 ...
     Failed: can't create package dpkg_1.10.21-1238_darwin-x86_64.deb

i am not sure what it means - apart from the fact that my update to
Xcode5 was probably premature…
the fink version i'm using is presumably the latest
     Package manager version: 0.35.1
     Distribution version: selfupdate-rsync Sun Sep 22 11:36:02 2013,
10.8, x86_64
     Trees: local/main stable/main
and the Mac i've tried to update fink on is a MacBookPro10,2 (Retina
13-inch late 2012) model (2.9GHz Core i7, 8 Gb RAM) under OS X 10.8.5.

i expect i essentially have to wait till fink is made compatible with
Xcode 5 -
any ideas of when this is to occur? if a quick easy fix is already
available, i'd be grateful.

cheers
