I can load a raster fine. I cannot display it. Oddly, r.info works too.

r.external input=raster.tif output=foo # works
r.info foo # works
d.mon start=wx0 # works
>> Unable to import pyGRASS: grass_gis.7.2.0 not found.

d.rast foo # error

Have you tried to display it?

The latest installed from fink on OS X 10.12.6 (Sierra). grass-mac72

> $ fink rebuild gdal2
> $ fink reinstall gdal2
> $ fink rebuild grass72-mac
> $ fink reinstall grass72-mac

I ran the above commands an the error still occurs. Strangely, many new packages were installed due to the rebuild commands. Specifically:

When rebuilding gdal2:
