Here are the exact commands I type:

I do not have Homebrew installed. I removed it and have wiped the OS since then. I do have Fink and MacPorts installed, but for the test today I removed macports:

cd /opt
sudo mv local local.on

Then launched a new terminal. Many things stopped working, indicating that macports was no longer available.
