That I was expecting (and a bit afraid of, since I am not a huge fan of
pull requests[1], but I should stop complaining since I have not
provided any code)

[1] I think either provide a small patch by email, that will be accepted
     or rejected or finally get write access and then push a new branch,
     that is eventually merged by the main maintainers. That is the way
     GNU emacs works, still and they use git.
