If one updates from Big Sur to Ventura for example. Fink is no longer able to update itself. fink update fink fails when it cannot find fink.info Will try reinstall with the standard main git. The documentation should be updated that fink does install on systems beyond Catalina. -Scott > On Sep 22, 2023, at 10:51, Derek Homeier <[email protected]> wrote: > > On 22 Sep 2023, at 4:32 pm, Jacques Bloch <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: >> >> git clone https://github.com/fink/fink >> cd fink >> git checkout main >> >> I get an error message: >> error: pathspec 'main' did not match any file(s) known to git >> > Sorry, typo, in Fink this is still called ‘master’. > > Those are instructions for building a new installation from scratch though, > as you noted you can try this in /opt/sw2 . > For updating an existing installation I’d rather try the usual path running > `fink self update`, but I have no idea if this will give you a working fink and > dpkg, as the above is not released yet. > > Cheers, > Derek > > _______________________________________________ > Fink-users mailing list > [email protected] > List archive: > https://sourceforge.net/p/fink/mailman/fink-users/ > Subscription management: > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-users _______________________________________________ Fink-users mailing list [email protected] List archive: https://sourceforge.net/p/fink/mailman/fink-users/ Subscription management: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-users
