This is good news.  I missed that notation of the merge.  Here is the sequence of commands I used:

However, this sequence doesn’t work on MacOS 13.6 / Xcode 15.0 for installing a new fink.   It seems that the C compiler is determined to be non-working!  Xcode and CLT are both version 15.0.  And build jobs is set to 1.

I ran bootstrap as root ie “sudo ./bootstrap”, when building dpkg configure seems to claim that gcc can NOT create an executable???  There are some other warnings that configure does not seem to recognize some options.  I have emphasized both lines above.  The config.log file in "/opt/sw/src/fink.build/dpkg-bootstrap-1.19.7-1/dpkg-1.19.7” ends with the following lines:

Any hints as to why this is happening?  Did Xcode/CLT 15 screw things up again?  They seem to have the executables in the normal path.
