It builds for me Xcode 15.1 / MacOS 13.6.3.

As a guess, older versions of Command Line Tools do not support the "unused-but-set-variableā€ option?  Possibly the build options need to be tweaked for  Xcode < ???.

I think you may also have a bullock problem. You can try
fink remove --buildlocks

There are other more invasive ways of cleaning up extraneous bullocks which a search engine might help
