I decided to cut things short and go with MacPorts instead of struggling with fink, which I have done for about 15 years now. With MacPort it says that gcc12 is not compatible with Sequoia, but gcc13 and gcc14 are. Unfortunately, I cannot find the latter two on fink.

I have now installed gcc14 with MacPorts and everything compiles fine.

Thanks for your help.

Best,
Jacques
