This package *doesn't* misbehave on 10.6 and the flag handling is pretty simple, so I suspect it's a 10.5 x11 issue (where'd you get your x11?). I just committed a tweak that might help ("regardless of what flags x11 is propagating, make sure it's happening after fink-packages' ones").
