a)  You don't "fink rebuild" a file.  You use "dpkg -S filename" to get
the name of the package that provides the file, and rebuild _that_:

$ dpkg -S libavahi-common.3.dylib
libavahi-common3-shlibs: /sw/lib/libavahi-common.3.dylib

That means you need to run

fink rebuild libavahi-common3-shlibs
