Closing because Fink has long supported adding the -jX flag to MAKEFLAGS to enable parallel building of individual packages. This is less error prone than having parallel builds that might require conflicting packages to be installed at the same time.

I have a dual processor machine, and one instance alone isn't 
enough to flood one processor with commands. I run 4 
installations at a time usually.
For the most part that's ok, but sometimes you run out of stuff to 
install, and sometimes you find that update-all or something runs 
and you have to wait for it to finish before you bother with others, 
or the interdependancies mess with it.


Let's have some multithreading options, including update-all 
running multiple jobs at once, combined with semaphorical 
interdependancy abilities to see that indeed one package is being 
installed in another process, and the package requested can be 
installed, provided the success of the preceeding process.
