Yes, but several writes or truncate could cause the number to overflow
the 32bit number. There might be also some other filters, which could
potentially return bigger values. I'd just prefer to have the value
fixed-width, to avoid any differences in functionality for 32bit
and 64bit machines, and it make more sense to fix it at 64 bits than
on 32 bits, IMHO.
