I've just released 2.51.0 as a test release you can base your future
work on.

As long as the package builds without problems I can help updating it.
I don't have the bnandwidth to do packaging changes or dealing with
upstream.  Btw, there's talk of Git starting to require Rust in certain
parts, so that will be a fun ride for the Cygwin maintainer depending on
how that turns out to get implemented.
