The gcc-14 update went smoothly, I have staged the perl-5.44.0 version
as test so any dependent packages can be re-built (although I will not
wait for every such package, as experience shows that some of these
updates never happen).  The current plan is to switch on the upcoming
weekend.

To update one of your packages, install the test
versions of the follwing packages, ignoring the wailing of setup that it
will want to remove a lot of things (i.e. remove the tick on the box
"accept the default solution" in setup), the last two are optional:

 perl-5.44.0-1-src
 perl-5.44.0-1-x86_64
 perl-debuginfo-5.44.0-1-x86_64
 perl_autorebase-5.44.0-1-x86_64
 perl_base-5.44.0-1-x86_64
 perl_manpages-5.44.0-1-x86_64
 perl_pods-5.44.0-1-x86_64

Also update any of the Perl distributions to test that your build needs
as a dependency, any dependent distributions of these themselves also
need to be updated to test manually (e.g. perl-Text-CSV_XS, which also
requires perl-Text-CSV).

I've obsoleted a bunch of distributions without a direct replacement:

perl-Digest-SHA1 (dead upstream and can be replaced by SHA module in core)
perl-Digest-SHA2 (1:1 replaceable by SHA module in core)
perl-Finance-Quote (upstream keeps changing many dependencies)
perl-JSON (replace with "use JSON::MaybeXS qw( :legacy );"
perl-JSON-Parse (dead upstream, no dependency remaining in Cygwin)
perl-JSON-XS (replace with JSON::MaybeXS, which will use Cpanel::JSON::XS)

The one user of SHA1 is in texlive-collection-mathscience, installed in
/bin/ulqda and can directly be replaced:

sed -i -E 's/(use Digest::SHA)1/\1/' /bin/ulqda
