It will be preserved in the main git repository, just as you can do
`git checkout 322b341d002945fae9151b8beba6f420db61037d^` to get the
tree just before MIPS was removed from `make universe`. That said, if
powerpc64/powerpc64le are removed before 16.0 anyone wanting to
continue working with them would likely be best served by following
the stable/15 branch.
