Hi Sir,

I write to you because i try to install and configure freebsd than one week.

i installed freebsd with xfree server version 4.3.0 directelly from an ftp and kde desktop but my system isn't stable.

i tryed a lot of new installation but i never have the same problems.

some time i can access directelly to the xfree server configuration (xf86cfg) and some time no with a black screen with a cursor on the up left and i need to reboot by button laptop.

some time i tryed configure my xfree via xf86config with success or not (with the sames parameters).

2 version ok but not stable:

xf86cfg: card vesa screen 50/70 (first choice)

xfconfig: card ati mach64 8ram 24 or 16 bits 1024*768.

in the to configurations i can access to kde by startx during the first try or more.

on the good way for me the problem was ok but isn't.

after 2 or 3 logout from kde i can not access any more to kde with diferents type of errors about kde.

the last one was 

klib: expension "GLX3 missing on display ":0.0" (more than one line)

DCOP aborting call from 'anonymous-554' to Knotify'

ERROR : Communication problem with Knitify, it probably crashed.

day and time machine_name kernel : pid 541 (ksplash), uid 0 : exited on signal 11 (core dumped)

day and time machine_name kernel : pid 555 (kdeinit), uid 0 : exited on signal 11 (core dumped)

558 the same

xauth: (argv) :1: bad display name "machine_name.domaine name:0" in "remove" command

i have all the time bad display name or screen

the system write or not.

i tryed find solution but all the time it's for nvidia driver but i haven't got that type of video card.

i tryed find laptop configurations for freebsd but my model wasn't in the list.

i tryed uninstall kde and reinstall it but same problem with out any change.

the lot of black screen obliged to me to crash the system and when i reboot i have / /usr/ /tmp or /var incorrectely unmounted and i can not unmount them manually.

i tryed to install the release 4.9 and this release resolve my xfree problems and kde.

i could enter directelly to configure xfree server dirctelly after installed it and i could do il a lot of succesively with success whis never black screen BUT I HAVE AN OTHER PROBLEM

the problem is with my 3com pcmcia card.

i can install freebsd directelly from ftp but after the installation the system install an unreconised card that i can see with ifconfig and when i try to configure my 3com it's impossible.

for internet with dhcp isn't possible can not find ip.

if i configure my internal card i have internet but when i try configure my 3com for the local reseau type 192.168.0.1 impossible.

xhen i start up the system it say me that the dhcp is allready used.

i'm tired to try find solution with not success because i pased a lot of time hours on days to try resolve it.

i think that you're my last chance to resolve it.
