It is the expected behavior of grep -q to terminate early, but it's neither
common nor desired if standard tools intercept SIGPIPE to report on it. From my
understanding, ldd is special in that it forks to get the information to report
on, and thus is informed if the spawned child terminated with SIGPIPE. From my
point of view, there is nothing gained by reporting on that signal. You
wouldn't expect with

cat *.log | fgreq -q 'something to find'

to be informed that cat got a SIGPIPE.
