also see /usr/src/sys/i386/conf/LINT (if on 4.x) or 
/usr/src/sys/i386/conf/NOTES (if on 5.x)
which contain all the posssible configuration option for the kernel

It would be usefull to allways give more information like:
the output of #uname -a
the output of #dmesg

so we know on what version you are and what you harware is.
