video(4) has landed in CURRENT.

Normally, this announcement should have arrived as a Mission: Impossible briefing video and self-destructed five seconds later.

Fortunately, I am sending this from a MacBook Air A1466. Its FaceTime HD camera is PCIe, which we do not support yet.

So you are getting an email.

USB cameras should now work through uvideo(4), and FireWire cameras through fwcam(4) , both will give you /dev/videoN which video(4) provides.

FFmpeg and OpenCV also compile now with FreeBSD video capture support.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find the cameras we havent tested yet.

I am particularly interested in the ridiculous stuff: 2K, 4K, 8K, thermal cameras, capture devices, or whatever resolution TikTok requires people to point at themselves these days.

If your camera works, great.

If it explodes, even better. Please tell us how -> Send a video in bugzilla.

PCIe cameras are next.

This creates a personal problem: once the Broadcom camera in this A1466 works, my last technically valid excuse for hiding from standups disappears.

So there is also a secondary mission: help me find the next sufficiently cursed camera before I accidentally implement myself into attending meetings with video enabled.
