That was my impression from the sources I found, too. Unfortunately, all 
my machines are running 8.0-RELEASE or 8-STABLE.

I wonder what happened to the effort on freebsd-afs (Cc) that had an 
abrupt end at the end of 2008. Has the port been given up?
