In line with this, and MAYBE related, I have a repeatable clang compiler
crash on a Pi3 under 14.1/STABLE -- the exact same SD card (pull and
insert) into a Pi4 and it does /not /crash. Its not in exactly the same
place either, but close (one of two functions.)

It smells like clang is running out of memory, but I get nothing on the
console about that.  The file where it blows up is large but not
ridiculously so.  The /same /code builds cleanly in 13.2 but obviously
clang is a newer vintage on 14.

I don't know if this is related... but it might be.
