---> But kind of demanding how I should use my sparse free time reminds me
(sadly) of why I handed in my commitment many years ago.

Man,you take for granted that whoever uses your code is able to do
entirely what he wants without asking you questions from time to time. You
seem to live in a perfect world. In a world inhabited only by experienced
users. This is not true.

But more importantly is that there are a lot of users with a low-medium
knowledge like me that ask because they are full of enthusiasm and a desire
to learn. And these are precisely the kind of people you need to advance
the development of the code you've provided. Because they, unlike experts,
have the time and the desire to make something new and fresh, without following
any corporate diktat, therefore in a more original and spontaneous way.

Experts, on the other hand, don't know what to do with your code because
they are able to create it themselves and / or they don't have the time to
do what they want. And they don't even participate in the development of
the entire project, but only in their own personal projects. So what's the
point of having so many developers who focus primarily on their own
projects and less on those with a more social impact ? It's true that those
who don't have the same skills as you will ask for more information.

But what do you want ? For your code to rot, or do you want to collaborate
with someone who wants to do something with it, who is trying to figure out
how to do it ? If you give your code to someone, I think you expect them to
ask you questions. In short, I don't understand who you think might be
interested in your code ? Don't you realize that very few of us are
interested ? If you complain even when someone asks you questions, you'll
only reduce the number of people interested, because you'll make someone
feel excluded.

But I think the real problem here is something else. It's that you're
confusing someone's enthusiasm with your long-standing belief that someone
actually demands something from you. I think it's not easy to distinguish
between the two, but an effort should be made before quickly taking sides
with no apparent second thoughts.
