If you have time/inclination, I can test bluetooth, have a pair of multi modal
(wired & bluetooth) hifi speakers right here.

There are projects targeting hardware aspects of rpi{3,4,5}
(see https://freebsdfoundation.org/our-work/projects/ ) but I can't see anything
specifically targeting rpi{3,4,5} ecosystem. That might just be an organisational
thing though.
