I close this PR:
1) The issue has been fixed in the meantime by a rewrite that only mentions git
2) Actually, removing their old portsnap checkout (or other methods) is the way
to go. There is no need for a "migration" section as someone who follows
FreeBSD finds the instructions to do so in the handbook. 
3) What follows here is a lost of feature requests for pkg. These should be
addressed to the pkg developers and not listed as part of a doc bug (where they
won't be found/read by the developers). Once those features exist, we can
document them.
