The problem has returned on a newer ThinkCentre Ryzen.

Same symptom: Worked fine until I ran freebsd-update.

Problem persisted after upgrading to 15.0-RELEASE.

It seems freebsd-update is doing something that interferes with linux-chrome
execution.
