I've been running 14.x for quite some time and have recently moved to
15.1-STABLE on a couple of production machines.  Autotrim was on and has
remained so across those updates, including "zpool upgrade" on the pools on
those systems, so IMHO at least in the context of 14.x -> 15.1 it has remained
set.
