After quite a while running without any vfs.zfs.arc_max the situations
has improved a little. I'm only observing high CPU usage from arc_prune 
when my OpenGrok indexer runs but it also goes back to normal in a 
reasonable amount of time.

I've never had the time to try out Seigo's patchset on 14.x, but as far
as memory serves, the behaviour with his patches on 13 was (subjectively)
much better (i.e. high CPU usage from arc_prune not observable).
