Firewire DC cameras on FreeBSD?

Hi everyone,

I've started working on a project with some IIDC cameras and I was  
surprised to find that FreeBSD doesn't seem to support them at all!?

Looking back in the archives people were discussing ports of libraw1394  
and libdc1394

but that effort seems to have died off? Can anyone offer any suggestions  
or comments about using IIDC cameras on freebsd? Is there anyway to use  
them? I'd rather not use linux if I don't have to.
