No wonder - your implementation is complex and unsound.

You have been using it for a long time, actually. The FAM_ALTBACKEND option
wasn't doing anything, because Meson is passed either
-Dfile_monitor_backend=inotify or -Dfile_monitor_backend=inotify-kqueue. The
change from Dec 2 simply removed the useless option from the port.
