I am closing this bug because both patches were written for gnome-shell 3.28.3,
and the port is now at version 47.10 -- a gap of nearly 20 major versions. The
patches cannot apply to the current codebase, and the one user who tested them
(rob.delafontaine@) reported they did not work. The keyboard/input handling
code has been completely reworked in newer GNOME versions. If the
systemd-localed issue still affects gnome-shell 47.x on FreeBSD, a new bug with
fresh patches should be filed.
