When this happens the= get brightness command still works but the set brightness command results in the following error: kernel: pid 3880 (pkexec), jid 0, uid 0: exited on signal 6 (no core dump - sugid process denied by kern.sugid_coredump) I have found that 99 set brightness commands can be used before the error starts showing up on the 100th use. The attached dbus_test.sh script uses t= he dbus directly to set the backlight brightness in a loop to expedite testing.
