To be frank the requirements for the entire mysql-client is superfluous in
Mediawiki. Mediawiki supports connecting over the MySQL Native Driver from
PHP eliminating the need of a MySQL library or client.

But so far what I think is that when the DEFAULT was changed the deps
were not bumped properly which still causes the old version to be used.
