Thanks everyone for your help, though unfortunately I haven't made any
progress. I've upgraded the zx6000 to the latest firmware and reset to
default factory settings and still haven't managed to get past the

Entering /boot/kernel/kernel at ......

I think I'm going to have to see if I can make due with Linux for now.
