Description:

I can reliably trigger JVM crashes with Eclipse on FreeBSD using OpenJDK
25.0.3:

JVM crash (this report) in HotSpot runtime:

SIGSEGV in libjvm.so
problematic frame:
AccessInternal::PostRuntimeDispatch<...G1BarrierSet...>::oop_access_barrier
stack includes: ResolvedMethodTable::find_method
java_lang_invoke_ResolvedMethodName::find_resolved_method
MethodHandles::resolve_MemberName

Before the crash, hs_err frequently logs multiple MethodHandle-related link=
age
anomalies:

NoSuchMethodError for java.lang.invoke.*$Holder.*
IncompatibleClassChangeError: Found class java.lang.Object, but interface w=
as
expected
This suggests corruption/inconsistency in MethodHandle resolution/runtime
metadata path, possibly JIT/runtime related on this port/version.

How to Reproduce

Install openjdk25, eclipse, SWT/GTK stack on FreeBSD 15.1.
Start Eclipse under Wayland.
Use UI actions involving SWT browser/dialog disposal/key traversal (ESC clo=
se,
compare/editor interactions, etc.).
After some runtime (minutes), JVM crashes with hs_err and core.

Workarounds observed

add -XX:+UseShenandoahGC -XX:ShenandoahGCMode=3Dgenerational, not found cra=
shing.
