How can I enable 100 MBIT

I have rhel 3 on a compaq armada 7800 with Compaq "Microcom 550 56K
Modem + 10/100 Ethernet" "CPQ550"

To get it to work i had to configure a custom kernel based on
2.4.21-20.EL, and install the pcmcia-cs-3.2.8 package.

the /var/log/messages  suggests it is 10Mbit; any idea how to tweak it
100Mbit or full duplex?
