Uncommenting OSDFONT, setting OSDCOLOR to Green and OSDALIGN to CENTER in 
tpbrc gives a similar look as the windows counterpart:

Btw: I have committed a port of KDE's kmilo ThinkPad plugin to KDE's svn 
(trunk/KDE/kdeutils if anyone wants to try it) about an hour ago. Looks
