May I introduce you to a Satellite user who likes his laptop? I
haven't used FreeBSD on it (though my desktop and a couple of servers
I admin are all 6.2-STABLE), but Ubuntu Linux is basically trouble free on
my Satellite U205. I bought it in December and installed Ubuntu Edgy
immediately (all hardware detected without trouble). The only issues
are the fingerprint reader (never bothered to try) and suspend-to-ram
suspend-to-disk works fine). Very sharp screen, light weight, nice
keyboard feel, solidly built.

I suppose this is a little off-topic since I haven't tried FreeBSD
on it, but it's a relevant data point.
