Cannot get Intel/Pro Wireless 3945ABG to work

I just installed (after a multiyear hiatus of FreeBSD) on my laptop,  
but I can't get the wireless to work.

I have 4 net devices listed): bfe0, fwe0, fwip0, and lo0. Is fwip the  
device I want to interact with? When I do an ifconfig fwip0 up scan, I  
get "unable to get scan results" returned immediately. Makes me think  
there is some kmod than I'm missing?
