alc(4) works on 8-stable here.  My Acer D250 has a 1G PHY on a 10/100

A Belkin F5D5050 has been occasionally useful to me.  It's slow, I 
wouldn't really trust it long-term, and wouldn't have it if it hadn't 
been on clearout for like $2 years back.  Better than nothing, 
certainly.
