suspend/resume on TPad A20m

I had this working beautifully, and now that I have had to rebuild 
the machine from scratch, I find I can't make zzz work. I get this 
result:

[/usr/src/sys/i386/conf]:: zzz
zzz: ioctl(APMIO_SUSPEND): Invalid argument

here's what truss shows me, if that helps:
